However far you walk on your knees, it does not have to be a hundred miles, and certainly not through the desert.

Yes, I know the clever of you wish to ask if you need to walk on your knees through the desert.  I’d say no.  The impossibly hard thing you need to do to be good does not require more repenting than anything else, just more bravery.  Once you face need it will be easier not to have to be good at the things you would do to be you.

And getting off your knees will help with both have and need, will help you skip too.

Skip and step.   On your knees through the desert?  Skip that step.

Do you have to be good?  Nope.

We covered that.

And you do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert.

Right?

Stumble and skip instead.  That’s where fertility is. where your life is.

Sure.  Fine.  Maybe a few minutes of repenting has its place.  You think you can’t skip that step.   One step of that a day.  A few in a lifetime.  Maybe it is the fifth of twelve steps on your need to be good.  Then get that need done, like we said.  But one hundred miles?  On your knees? In repentence? This gets you nowhere.

No one should be that good at feeling bad.
